Player Ratings: America 1-0 Chivas

America won the Super Clasico on the strength of a Aquivaldo Mosquera header. Goal.com rates the participants.

Enrique Esqueda - America
America

Guillermo Ochoa 6.5- Ochoa didn’t have very much to do. He did have a good save in the second half against Omar Bravo, but nothing too difficult.

Aquivaldo Mosquera 7.5- Scored great header at the start of the game, and didn’t have too much difficulty cleaning up anything in the back for the remainder of the game. Was lucky to not be seen by the referee when he slapped Omar Bravo.

Oscar Rojas 6.5- Didn’t have too much difficulty keeping trouble at bay.

Juan Carlos Valenzuela 7- Did well covering in the back and even getting up front a few times to add some danger.

Israel Martinez 6- Did fairly well going up the field, but then held back after the early yellow card.

Pavel Pardo 7- Good free kick for goal, and good distribution for the game.

Adolfo Rosinei 6- One of the quiet players for the first half, performance was marred by a yellow for his dive in the second half.

Angel Eduardo Reyna 6.5- Did well moving the ball down the field to start counterattacks, good job on the right. Had a few chances, but didn’t too much with them.

Enrique Esqueda 8- Good opportunities up front throughout the game and took the liberties of leaving some of the Chivas players dumbfounded with his tricks. Better as the game progressed and his disappointment at being taken off early was easy to understand.

Daniel Montenegro 7- Had a few opportunities, but wasn’t a distinguished part of the game for the first half. For the second part he was a more pronounced figure up top and had several chances that forced saves out of the Chivas ‘keeper.

Salvador Cabañas 7.5- Good job at easily getting away from Chivas defense. Was very unfortunate to have several of his headers not turn into a goal for America.

Substitutes

Jean Beausejour 7- Led the way forward, but was stopped by an improving Chivas team

Jose Joaquin Martinez 5.5- Was overtaken by the Chivas players and committed unnecessary fouls

Juan Carlos Silva N/A

Chivas

Luis Michel 7.5- Couldn’t really do much on first goal. Had a great save near the end of the first half with the knee, and a many other key saves. Was the reason Chivas only lost by the minimum.

Omar Esparza 5- Did well in the back, and had a few opportunities getting up front

Hector Reynoso 5.5- Had important clearances early in the game and looked solid among the Chivas defense.

Johnny Magallon 5- The highlight was that the defender didn’t get injured as he usually does during games against America.

Edgar Solis 4.5- Stupid foul dragging Rosinei that started a downward sloping performance from the player. Clear weakness on the Chivas side. Had the one clearance for Chivas to stop a second goal but was taken off at about 20 minutes into the first half  without provoking many questions.

Edgar Mejia 5-
Had a clear hand ball for a penalty. The rest of the time had trouble with the America players and resorted to fouling too much.

Gonzalo Pineda 5-
Recovered several balls, but as time wore on became less and less of an influence

Sergio Amaury Ponce 5- Was creating the opportunities for Chivas early in the first half, but then level went down

Xavier Baez 5.5- Tried to provide chances, but there was no one to connect.

Javier Hernandez 6.5- The better Chivas player up front. Played all over the field, although was at fault for the first goal. Had no support and was at least double teamed when up front but clearly fought to add something for Chivas.

Omar Bravo 5- Looked lazy up front. Didn’t really try to find any opportunities, and wasted chances. Could have done better with Chivas’ rare chance in the second half.

Substitutes

Mario de Luna 5.5- Looked a little shaky, but improved for the second half to provide more solid coverage.

Omar Arellano 5- Didn’t do much with time on the field

Ramon Morales 5.5- Had trouble getting into the game, but provided some defensive help.
