Hugo Sanchez: Valencia Took Their Chances & We Didn't

He says the sending off made things harder for the home side.

Almeria coach Hugo Sanchez felt that the difference between his side and Valencia came from their finishing, after they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Los Che.

Goals from David Villa, Pablo Hernandez and Juan Mata gave all three points to the visitors, but their cause was aided by the dismissal of the home goalkeeper Diego Alves, when the score was at 1-0.

"I think there were too many goals for what we have seen on the pitch. The goal difference was too great," he said afterwards according to Super Deporte.

"At 0-1 we had the opportunity to draw. With the intensity with which we played, the players wanted to get back into it, but we were against a great team. I feel that the result was too heavy.

"They had six chances and scored three, whilst we had four [chances] and did not score any. However, with the sending off we lost everything, that opened more spaces."
