Queretaro Get Second Win In A Row
Queretaro get their second win at the expense of Atlas.
Queretaro had not scored an away goal since the second Jornada. Atlas get their 6th defeat in the Apertura as they stay put with 14 points.
First Half
The first half started with good rhythm. Both teams looked very offensive but their defenses looked shaky.
The teams were both giving good runs but could not infiltrate each others boxes as all the dangerous attempts came off of corners and free kicks.
Atlas and Queretaro had to stop play in the 18th minute as 70% of the lights in the Estadio Jalisco went out.
The game resumed after three minutes of being stalled and Atlas had the first clear chance of the game. Miguel Zepeda received the ball inside of the box from a Daniel Osorno cross. Zepeda tried to hit it but Carlos Bossio picked up the ball with out any problems.
Atlas seemed to be gaining an edge on offense but it would be Queretaro who would score first.
Queretaro broke the deadlock in the 30th minute. Margarito Gonzalez serviced the ball off a free kick. Adrian Romero beat everyone to the ball and was able to place it in the back of the net. Queretaro finally scored as visitor's after what seemed to be an eternity but more importantly they took a 1-0 lead.
Darvin Chavez tried to pull Atlas back in the 36th minute. Chavez unloaded a canon from outside the box. Carlos Bossio saw it coming and made a great diving save to protect his team's lead.
Miguel Zepeda had one last one for Atlas at the end of the first half but once again failed to hit it right. The half ended with Los Gallos Blancos on top by one goal.
Second Half
Atlas went in search of a tying goal and started off flying in the second half. Edgar Pacheco, who was dominating the right side, sent in a service for Zepeda. the intended receiver tried to get a shot off but couldn't thanks to Adrian Romero's tight marking.
Zepeda was missing everything for Atlas.
Queretaro finally got offensive in the 62nd minute. Diego Chaves sent in a shot with his head off an Isaac Romo cross. The ball barely missed the goal as it went out for a goal kick.
Mario Mendez had the best chance for Atlas in the 65th minute. Mendez received the ball in the heart of the box. Mendez had a clear chance but sent the ball way over the bar.
Atlas tried as much as they could to try and get a goal in but Queretaro had every one helping out defensively.
Things got worse for Queretaro in the 81st minute. Los Gallos Blancos went down a man when Octavio Aceves elbowed Luis Robles.
Even with ten men on the field Queretaro was able to fend off the Zorro's attack as they cruised to a 1-0 win.
