San Luis Manager Luna Walks Away From Club

Juan Antonio Luna resigned his post as San Luis manager on Monday after just three wins in 11 games this season.

Eleven games was apparently enough for Juan Antonio Luna to realize San Luis were going nowhere without him at the helm.

This, Luna resigned from his post as manager of los Gladiadores.

Club officials were reportedly surprised by the decision but immediately named a replacement nevertheless. Miguel Angel "Zurdo" Lopez will replace Luna effective immediately.

San Luis are 3-3-5 in the Apertura 2009 season. The club had a strong start defensively, having allowed five goals through the first eight games. But San Luis allowed eight goals in three games afterward and went 0-2-1 in that span.

San Luis play Pumas on Saturday when league play resumes. San Luis, however, still have a chance to reach the Liguilla. As the club sits in Group 1, a weak group led by Toluca, San Luis needs only to finish in second place. San Luis are even with Atlas and trail Chivas by one point. Queretaro and Indios are well far back of the pack, with six and four points respectively.
