Hexagonal Success: What Went Right For Mexico?

Mexico reached the World Cup finals and became the first CONCACAF nation to do so, despite sitting in fifth place through four games. What went right for El Tricolor? Have your say.

Miguel Sabah - Mexico-USA (Mexsport)
Mexico were at a low point on June 6 after losing 2-1 at El Salvador. The World Cup was a long ways away, and El Tri had more questions than answers.

Fast forward to Oct. 10 and Mexico seemingly answered those questions. Mexico reeled off five consecutive victories and reached the 2010 World Cup.

What went right for El Tri? What was the most important factor in the turnaround?

Was it as simple as handing over the reins to Javier Aguirre? Was it Aguirre's faith in Cuauhtemoc Blanco? What about the youthful energy provided by some of the new blood, such as Efrain Juarez and Israel Castro? Or the refocused efforts from vets such as Carlos Salcido or Gerardo Torrado?

One thing is for certain: ¡Viva Mexico!

Have your say and have a friendly debate among fellow Tri fans.
