Enrique Esqueda Wants To Make History Again
The America forward is excited about the call and his future with the Mexican National team.
Esqueda came on as a sub in the game against Colombia but his short time on the field was enough to convince Javier Aguirre, that this kid deserves a call. Esqueda knows that he is on the team for a reason and he will give it his all so it can stay that way.
"Everyone who is on the national squad is there for a reason. This is a special moment for me because if we win on the tenth then we get our ticket (to the World Cup). I hope I can keep on the team so that I too can go to South Africa," Esqueda told Mediotiempo.com.
Enrique Esqueda has already experienced the joys and wonders of being on a World Cup squad. "La Paleta" was a part of the Mexican U-17 squad that won the World Cup tournament in 2005. Esqueda would like nothing less than to once again rise on the podium and be crowned the best in the World, but this time with the senior squad.
"I still don't know what I felt (after wining the World Cup), it was something incredible and unexplainable," admitted Esqueda. I will try do my best, with my feet firmly planted on the ground, to help out the team. I don't like taking steps back I always try to go forward and I think I've shown it and that's why I'm here."
Esqueda has advanced greatly in America and under the guidance of Jesus Ramirez. Ramirez was Esqueda's mentor during the U-17's 2005 cup run. Chucho congratulated Esqueda on his achievement and gave him some words of advice.
"Chucho congratulated me as well as 'Kevin', Memo and the rest of the national team squad. He asked for our best efforts while we are away," said Esqueda.
Mexico's next encounter will be a crucial World Cup qualifier match against El Salvador on the 10th. El Tri will play in the Azteca, home of America and home of Esqueda.
