Struggling Pachuca Hosts Home-bound America
America will try and pull off a win in Hidalgo against a struggling Pachuca.
America has not tasted defeat in eight games. In which period they have outscored their opponents 20-6. The blue and yellow has been on a roll that has not been seen in a while. Las Aguilas how ever have not performed up to par in their last pair of away games.
America should have dispatched Tigres with out any problems but they were missing a great deal of players thanks to the World Cup qualifiers. Then America visited Indios, which are the second worse team in the league but Las Aguilas could only manage a draw. Now America will once again travel away from their nest to face a struggling Pachuca.
Pachuca has not been the same since Guillermo Rivarola move in as head coach. No one would have predicted that Pachuca would have 4 losses at this point in the season but they do. The whole team seems to still be out of sync. Pachuca has been able to beat the weak teams in the league but as we saw last week, they have problems with the bigger teams.
Pachuca is coming off two straight losses in league play. First it was Monterrey who went into the Hidalgo stadium and beat Pachuca in the second half. Then Santos hosted Pachuca and like good hosts, put on a show for their guests. Santos dispatched Pachuca, 4-0. Pachuca though will be at home and to their luck America is not the best away from home.
Israel "Jagger" Martinez has mentioned that the game against Pachuca will be a hard fought game. When America and Pachuca meet up there is always more than three points at stake.
"There's people who just dedicate themselves to discussing who the best team in Mexico is, whether it be America, Chivas, or Cruz Azul. It all depends who's looking at it. I am with America and I know I'm with one of the best and most important clubs in Mexico," said Martinez.
"Beating America is something that motivates you. I know this because I was in San Luis and that's how we saw it. Even though they (Pachuca) have not been playing well, I know that against America they will play to the death."
