Player Ratings: Mexico 1-2 Colombia
Colombia won a B-side friendly over Mexico in Dallas. Goal.com ranked the participants out of 10.
Jose de Jesus Corona 5 - Was having a great night early in the second half. Corona stopped a penalty and a lot of other shots but was beat twice by the Colombians.
Paul Aguilar 7.5 - Perhaps Mexico’s best player of the night. Never quit running and his efforts were rewarded when he scored late in the second half.
Hugo Ayala 4.5 - Had a very bad clearance in the play which eventually left to a corner and then a goal for Colombia.
Edgar Dueñas 5 - Hesitant in the begging with clearances. Also got beat badly by Moreno which resulted in a dangerous play for Colombia.
Oscar Rojas 5 - Very quiet first half since most of the play was kept in the opposite flank. Went up on the offensive a bit too much which left his side exposed for Colombian attacks.
Gerardo Torrado 4.5 - Lost his man in the corner which left three open men and led to the goal. Torrado was later subbed by Aguirre.
Jonathan dos Santos 5.5 - Very active both defensively and offensively but started loosing steam in the second half due to an apparent injury.
Braulio Luna 6 - Did good recovery work in the middle and played like he did in the old days. Almost made an own goal but to his fortune Corona was there to save.
Edgar Pacheco 4 - Looked nervous early in the game but worked better with individual plays. Handed Colombia a penalty (which they missed).
Nestor Calderon 4.5 - Imprecise with his passing and showed very little to earn another call up by Javier Aguirre.
Juan Carlos Cacho 5 - Kept very quiet in the first half and barely generated any danger up top.
Substitutes
Jose Antonio Castro 4 - Touched the ball very little and did not do much to improve the Mexican back. Also left Quintero with a lot of space to score Colombia’s second.
Javier Hernandez 6.5 - Tried an over head kick but stopping it and turning around would have been a better option. Made an excellent assist for Mexico’s lone goal.
Omar Arellano 5.5 - Saw Hernandez and gave a great pass which led to Mexico’s only goal.
Enrique Esqueda 5.5 - Showed no fear coming in and playing as if he had started.
Patricio Araujo 6 - Very active in the middle recovering and passing well.
Colombia
Agustín Julio 4.5 - Was barely tested but did make a marvelous save against a Braulio Luna free kick. Julio was beat once in the late stages of the game.
Alexis Henríquez 5 - Cut off a lot of the Mexicans attacks, especially in the air, due in part to his stature.
Humberto Mendoza 6 - Stood his ground in the back, not letting Mexico’s Cacho have anything. Could have done a better job on the rebound from the missed penalty. Mendoza also had a lot of key clearances and tackles.
Danilson Córdoba 4.5 - Left Mexico’s Hernandez alone late in the second half and the mistake led to El Tri’s first goal.
Luis Alberto Nuñez 5 - Had a good presence in the back and even had a go from distance which came really close to the frame of the goal.
Giovanni Moreno 8 - Made good runs down the heart of the field, showing his dominance with the ball but made a couple of bad decisions but that was all erased when he headed one in at the end of the first half.
Yulian Anchico 5 - Was absent in the offense but helped out a lot in the defense in the second half.
Dorlan Pabón 7 - Excellent long passing throughout the game. Ran a lot down the flanks, terrorizing the Mexican defense with his speed.
Vladimir Marin 6.5 - The Toluca man had a golden chance inside the box but could not make the most of it. Created the play which eventually ended up in Colombia’s first goal.
Christian Marrugo 5.5 - Had a key pass which created space for Jackson Martinez but Martinez could not pull it off.
Jackson Martínez 4.5 - received a lot of the offensive duties but could not perform his tasks, Should have done better with the penalty but instead shot a weak shot down the middle.
Substitutes
Giovani Hernandez 6 - Was the most active in the second half, receiving and delivering like a true midfielder.
Teofilo Gutierrez 5.5 - Came in and instantly started creating offensively had good speed which gave Edgar Dueñas some problems.
Jhon Viafara 3 - Entered the game but never really saw any of the ball.
Juan Carlos Escobar 6 - Created the play that led to Colombia’s second goal. Almost had his own goal at the end but the ball crashed against the up-right.
Carlos Darwin Quintero 6.5 - Created Colombia’s second goal just minutes after entering the game.
