The Mexican could make his first competitive appearance of the season.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has included Rafael Marquez in the squad for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League Group F showdown with Inter at the San Siro, according to Sport.

Marquez was given the all-clear by Camp Nou medical staff last week but sat out the weekend win away to Getafe in the Primera Division.

He now returns to the squad for the first time since picking up an injury during Barcelona's pre-season tour of the United States.

The inclusion of the 30-year-old defender comes as no surprise given that new signing Dmytro Chygrynskiy is ineligible for the Champions League having already played for Shakhtar Donetsk in the preliminary stages of the competition.

Chygrynskiy is expected to travel to Milan with the Blaugrana as coach Pep Guardiola wants to integrate the Ukrainian into the group.
