Chivas Fill Managerial Void With Two Assistants

Francisco Ramirez walked away from the team after Saturday's game, and now the club will turn to Luis Manuel Diaz and Marco Fabian to guide the club.

After the 4-0 loss to San Luis, Chivas manager Francisco Ramirez resigned from his post. Now, Chivas are without a permanent manager, but there is a temporary replacement.

If one manager wasn’t enough, Chivas now have two. For the upcoming midweek friendly against America in Kansas City, Chivas will have Luis Manuel Diaz and Marco Fabian as managers.

Both men had been Ramirez’ assistants, but now have taken on a more prominent role for the upcoming game.

“They’ve made it officials and Marco (Fabian) and I will both be in charge. I’m happy on my part, trying to give everything to get out of this (bad streak). For now we’re going to go up against America and we’re going to see what we can do well to improve the team,” said Diaz.

“Even though it’s only one game, I think that we’re prepared and I think we’ll be fine. I’m confident in the great players that we have. The team hasn’t responded, but has played well at times afterwards I don’t know what happens. We’re going to analyze everything and we’re going to get to the fine points to improve.”

Meanwhile Marco Fabian thinks that the team is close to leaving their bad streak, and will improve in the friendly against America midweek.

“We’re close to improving. We have to point out a few things and adjust tactically. But the team is willing, very willing to move things ahead,” added Fabian. “First, we have to agree on how we’re going to play. (We have to) choose player and we’ll try to use those that are at their best.”

Although the men in charge will only be temporarily at the helm of Chivas, immediate improvement is searched for. Omar Arellano Sr. had previously been interim manager for Chivas after Efrain Flores was let go. Arellano’s stint only lasted two games, and a similar situation might be at hand for Diaz and Fabian.

“We have to thank the administration for believing in us for this game. That’s how I see it. What we’re asking from the group is that they enjoy the trip with joy and leave the past and well, start to improve the mood. In any way that it’ll help we have to train. It’s a Clasico, a game that we can’t lose, and we have to come out on top against America.”
