San Luis Embarrass Sinking Chivas, 4-0
San Luis dropped four goals on Chivas Saturday in Estadio Alfonso Lastras.
San Luis hosted Chivas in the
Jornada 8 and left them battered and bruised. With only five points
from all games Chivas further buried themselves at the bottom of the
table as San Luis put four goals past El Rebaño. San Luis improved
their standing, while the mystery and suspense over Francisco Ramirez’
continuity at the head of Chivas increases.
In the 11th minute
Chivas had a great chance. Alberto ‘Venado’ Medina rushed up the
left and sent in a cross for Omar Bravo. New captain Bravo just
missed the ball.
Tresor Moreno then had an opportunity
in the 16th minute when Braulio Luna outmaneuvered Omar Esparza
and sent in a cross. Moreno awkwardly received the ball in front of
goal, and was unable to fully position himself.
Again in the 20th
minute San Luis had an opportunity. Cesar Eduardo Gonazlez took
a free kick which squarely hit the post.
Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Torres
then gave a great run, providing a low cross across the Chivas area
in the 24th minute. The Chivas players, as well as the San
Luis players, missed the ball as it flashed across the box.
Johnny Magallon then took an
shot from outside the area in the 27th minute which ended
up going just wide of goal as Adrian Martinez looked on from the ground.
In the 29th minute
Magallon then made a run down the left. ‘Chicharo’ Hernandez arrived
and received the ball, but sent it wide of the goal, leaving the score
the same and Omar Bravo in the center looking on.
It was San Luis who first went
up in the game. In the 34th minute Alfredo Moreno sent a
pass to Gonzalez and then received it back. Just on the edge of the
area Moreno fired his shot and sent it past
Then in the36th
minute Michael Orozco put the second in the net. Orozco recived the
ball from Oscar Moscorro just in front of goal and easily put it past
Michel to double San Luis’ lead.
In the 62nd minute
Hector Reynoso was sent off on the Chivas side for a harsh studs up
kick at the calf towards Alfredo Moreno outside the Chivas box.
Tressor Moreno then had the
opportunity to put San Luis up in the 69th minute. His first
shot left Luis Michel on the ground as Moreno hid the ball from the
goalkeeper and shot, but the ball hit the post. The rebounded goal then
landed once again in front of Tressor Moreno and this time got it past
Michel to give San Luis the third goal.
The fourth goal for San Luis
was added in the 77th minute. Torres danced around the Chivas
defense and left it to Noe Maya, who had started the play in midfield,
and lobbed it over Luis Michel for the 4-0 of the night.
In stoppage time San Luis had
another opportunity, but the shot was stopped by Luis Michel.
