Atlante Look For First Point Against Chivas
Atlante have yet to win or draw a match this season but will look to turn their fortunes around when Chivas visits Cancun.
Giancarlo Madonado made his way to Spain and Atlante manager Jose Guadeloupe Cruz knows that the team will be affected by the absence.
“I’m happy for Giancarlo because it’s the third team that’s looked for his services and finally it was done. It’s a dream that he’s had for a long time and something that we all have who are in football,” said Cruz. “It’s a noticeable absence; it’s obvious that we will be affected.”
However, Atlante now count with the services of Santiago Solari, and the Chivas defenders are well aware of the damage he could cause.
“I think that some time has passed and the team (Atlante) is starting to need more of Solari. Giancarlo (Maldonado) left and it’s an important loss for them,” said Hector Reynoso. “I think that a team looks to improve and they’ll try to be better and it’ll be 90 minutes where we’ll have to play our best game. We need to play intensively and win against Atlante. They’re a good team. They’re well managed with great players and a great offense. It’ll be a difficult rival. They’ve already made life difficult by beating us in a semifinal.”
Both teams have had a rough start to their campaign. Chivas’ Marco Fabian pointed out that Chivas need to be as strong away as at home.
“We have to have more strength. We have to put the ball in the net and we have to win as visitors as well. We can’t just wait to play at home to win. We have to leave and play one on one and improve our errors,” said Fabian.
“They had a bad start like we did, but sometimes those are the teams that give the most trouble. They’re complicated because they don’t bring pressure. It’ll be a good match. They have good players and we know the team well. It’ll be a game with many shots and because they’re at home they’ll look to win. We will also look for the same thing.”
