Stunner In San Luis As Gladiadores Topple Pachuca

Pachuca were the odds on favorite but San Luis was the little team that could as they steam rolled past Los Tuzo's at home.

Pachuca lost their undefeated tag tonight thanks to an assertive San Luis. Pachuca fell early in the game and things just went down hill from there. Pachuca played with nine men for a good portion of the game and that's where San Luis did most of their damage.

This is the first win for San Luis who now have a 1-1-1 record.

Pachuca could be dethroned as leaders of  group 2 if Morelia wins on Sunday.

First Half

Pachuca seemed the clear favorite entering the game. Pachuca had won ten times against San Luis' 3. San Luis though would start things off early at home.

Tressor Moreno was a determined man for San Luis.  The forward was terrorizing the Pachuca back line. After just ten minutes Moreno sent a shot just over the bar of Miguel Calero's goal. It would be Eduardo Coudet though, who would score for San Luis. The San Luis midfielder received a pass outside the box, he aimed and put the ball in the back of the net. San Luis won 1-0 after the 16th minute.

Pachuca wanted to get back on terms so they moved their lines up . In the 19th minute Pachuca defender Paul Aguilar got behind a cross but his shot smashed against a San Luis defender. Christian "El Chaco" Gimenez also got in on the action. In the 27th minute Gimenez tried a long distance shot but it was stopped by Adrian Martinez.

Pachuca looked like they were  close to a breakthrough but in the 38th minute but everything got worse. Paul Aguilar received his second yellow in a course of 7 minutes and was sent off. Pachuca was one goal down and had only ten men on the field before the half.

Second Half

Although being down a man Pachuca started off the second half flying. They did not want to loose their unbeaten streak and most importantly did not want to loose first place in their group. In the 56th minute El Chaco Gimenez shot directly on target but Martinez had a superb save to keep his team in front.

Christian Gimenez was determined not to let his team go down. Gimenez again tried his luck, this time in the 62nd minute but his shot went wide of the mark. Gimenez efforts though seemed to have been in vain after a second one of his team mates was sent off. Javier Muñoz was sent off leaving Pachuca with nine men.

San Luis took advantage of the double suspension by scoring a couple of goals which were converted 2 minutes apart form each other. San Luis' second goal came courtesy of the American defender, Michael Orozco. Orozco received a cross from Braulio Luna and did well to burry the ball past Calero. The third goal came from Noe Maya who beat Calero to give his team a 3 goal lead.

Pachuca could do nothing but the defend the Gladiators onslaught. They held well and did not let another  go through but they still lost 3-0 in the end.
