Giovani Dos Santos will try and replicate his Gold Cup success on a bigger stage.

After helping Mexico obtain the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup Giovani Dos Santos has turned into the Tricolors beacon of hope and the one player expected to turn in a performance in the upcoming Hexagonal match-up against rivals the United States.

“I am very calm, I understand the responsibility of the match on Wednesday, we all know that we have to win and personally I come here with much confidence, I have been preparing myself and I feel better than ever,” said Dos Santos at a press conference prior to joining the national teams training camp.

After being informed about U.S coach Bob Bradley’s comment that he will be paying closed attention to the Tottenham striker; Dos Santos responded by saying that there are more players to worry about. “I am not the Mexican national team; it is all of us so he has to worry about Miguel Sabah, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Nery Castillo, and Guillermo Franco.”

Giovani, however, has blossomed into the player many felt he could become since helping Mexico win the 2005 U-17 World Cup.

“I am happy because things are finally working out, I am going through a very good phase, and I have to remain on that road, I have to train at 100 percent and demonstrate that in the field and thanks to God I am doing good,” continued Giovani who claims that he still has much more to give.

“I have been improving little by little with the games and experience I have acquired with the national team and my clubs and I find myself in a very good moment of maturity and I still have much to learn from my teammates who always challenge me; I know I have yet to reach my full potential,” said Dos Santos.

The opportunity to play alongside Tricolor idol Cuauhtémoc will give Giovani an opportunity he has dreamed about.

“I will be delighted to play with him because that is one of my dreams because playing alongside him makes football very easy,” assured Dos Santos. “I hope to give a good game, I will try to give what I can to the national team, but I will be sincere I could care less if I play good or bad the most important thing are the three points that we must win”.

“My brother is doing very well,” Dos Santos said about his younger sibling Jonathan; a Barcelona upstart who has been offered a chance to suit up for Spain’s national team. “It was only a matter of time for him to be known and at the end that will be his decision. I would be delighted if he would play with the Tricolor next to me but he has to see with which national team he feels better,” concluded Giovani.
