Guardado Confident In A Mexican Victory

Upon arriving in Mexico City, Andres Guardado predicted a 3-0 scoreline in favor of Mexico.

Andres Guardado, despite suffering an injury during Deportivo La Coruna pre-season training, has told reporters that he will be match-fit just in time for Mexico’s hexagonal match-up against rivals the United States.

“I have a slight injury but I will not miss this match for anything,” boasted Guardado upon his arrival to Mexico City. “I came to play but that is a decision that Javier (Aguirre) has to make."

Guardado said he was sure he'd be given the green light by the coaching staff to participate.

"I have to wait until I get checked but I feel good, it is only a slight injury, so I am confident that I will be at 100 percent for the match,” said the speedy midfielder.

When asked if the Tricolor has what it takes to defeat the United States a confident Guardado not only seemed sure of the victory but even gave a score-line.

“But of course we will win; three-nil,” responded Guardado. “We have many quality players; it has become clear that the team has been preparing well and the only thing left is to demonstrate that in the field on Wednesday.”

The Deportivo La Coruña midfielder believes that the Tricolor gained much confidence after obtaining the CONCACAF Gold Cup and hopes that the players that remain in the national team will transmit that confidence to the rest of the group.

“There is plenty of confidence. The truth is that the Gold Cup championship proved that we can win; a large part of that squad remained in the team and I believe that the confidence they achieved also remained,” concluded Guardado.
