Pachuca head to Guatemala to face los Tigres del Jumay on their home turf, but the Guatemalans need a stellar performance just to get back into the series.

Pachuca destroyed Guatemalan side Jalapa a week ago in Estadio Hidalgo and all but wrapped up a spot in the CONCACAF Champions League group stage.

With a 3-0 aggregate lead, Pachuca head into Tuesday's return leg in Guatemala with a sizable advantage. Jalapa would need a rout just to get back into the game.

But Pachuca manager Guillermo Rivarola said his club would leave the lead back home in Pachuca.

"To me, the series is 0-0," Rivarola said. "We can't see it as any other way. That would be a mistake on our part."

The three-goal edge may have allowed the club to relax entering their league match last week as Pachuca beat Queretaro 3-1 in their home opener. It also gave Pachuca confidence that los Tuzos can do damage agaisnt los Tigres del Jumay on their turf.

But the lead also gives Pachuca a sense of needing to see things through.

"We have a responsibility that we must follow through on," Pachuca midfielder Damian Alvarez said. "We have to do things the same or better than we did them a week ago."

Ultimately, Pachuca could see themselves in the group stage soon enough, upon which they'll find themselves in the same group as Houston Dynamo of MLS and Isidro Metapan of El Salvador.

"We're going there with a lot of confidence," Pachuca manager Guillermo Rivarola told Esto. "We are aware that the game has to start over. The players are excited and anxious to get past this round."
