Chivas debuted at home, but had a difficult time containing Tigres. The visiting team had not won against Chivas since the Apertura 2003, but broke the streak with a 3-1 win at the Jalisco Stadium. Itamar Batista helped his new team with two goals, while ‘Kikin’ Fonseca added another. Chivas’ lone goal was scored by ‘Chicharo’ Hernandez, and was not enough to prevent their second straight loss.

First Half

Tigres quickly got off to a fast start. ‘Kikin’ Fonseca came up against Luis Michel after a pass from Itamar Batista and feinted to his right to score Tigres’ goal in the fifth minute to make it 1-0.

In the 13th minute Chivas had a breakaway and ‘Chicharo’ Hernandez decided to take a long distance shot, but it ended just wide.

Itamar Batista scored the second in the 35th minute, after Fonseca drew the defenders and sent in a pass. Batista received the ball and chipped over Michel to score.

Second Half

Coming back for the second half Tigres looked to score another right way. Batista took on Juan Ocampo and outpaced the defender, and crossed to Lucas Lobos who headed just wide in the 47th minute.

Chivas got on the attack, and in the 50th minute ‘Chicharo’ Hernandez scored to make it 2-1. Ramon Morales‘ thrown in was found by‘Venado’ Medina who crossed to Hernandez for a header past Cirilo Saucedo.

Tigres scored another in the 61st minute. Once more, Itamar Batista scored when he took on Aaron Galindo to put the ball past Michel for a 3-1 score.

‘Chicharo’ Hernandez kept on trying for Chivas, and in the 70th minute his shot deflected off the left post.

Chivas was left with 10 men in the 83rd minute after Sergio Amaury Ponce received his second yellow card of the night for a hand ball during a play with Armando Pulido.
