Mexico called up 20 players ahead of their World Cup qualifying match against the United States. The roster is a mix of Gold Cup players and experienced veterans.

Three days after winning their first Gold Cup in six years, Mexico manager Javier Aguirre released the list of players he will use to try and replicate the tournament's success in World Cup qualifying.

Aguirre used a mix of players from the successful Gold Cup campaign along with some experienced World Cup veterans for Mexico's game against the United States on Aug. 12.

Helping El Tri's cause will be Guillermo "Memo" Ochoa, Carlos Vela and Giovani Dos Santos, who shined for Mexico in Sunday's 5-0 demolition of the U.S. Also on the squad are Miguel Sabah, the tournament's leading goal scorer, Gerardo Torrado, Jose Antonio "Gringo" Castro and Guillermo Franco, each of whom scored against the Americans.

Also on the squad are Efrain Juarez, Jesus Corona, Jonny Magallon, Israel Castro and Alberto Medina, all of whom were on Mexico's Gold Cup squad.

To buoy the team, Aguirre called on regulars such as Andres Guardado, Rafael Marquez, Carlos Salcido and Cuauhtemoc Blanco.

Some notable omissions include America's Pavel Pardo - who did not play for Aguirre in 2001 or 2002 - as well as Oscar "Conejo" Perez, who had taken over the reigns at goalkeeper in Aguirre's first two games back in charge.

Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa (America), Jesus Corona (Cruz Azul).

Defenders: Efrain Juarez (Pumas), Jose Antonio "Gringo" Castro (Tigres), Rafael Marquez (Barcelona, Spain), Jonny Magallon (Chivas), Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart, Germany), Aaron Galindo (Chivas), Carlos Salcido (PSV, Netherlands), Oscar Rojas (America).

Midfielders: Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul), Israel Castro (Pumas), Andres Guardado (Deportivo la Coruña, Spain), Cuauhtemoc Blanco (Chicago, U.S.), Alberto Medina (Chivas).

Forwards: Giovani Dos Santos (Tottenham, England), Nery Castillo (Shakhtar, Ukraine), Carlos Vela (Arsenal, England), Miguel Sabah (Morelia), Guillermo Franco (unattached).
