The Mexican national team is awaiting the quarterfinal clash against Haiti on Sunday, July 19 in Arlington, Texas. In a press conference Javier Aguirre spoke about the importance the tournament has had on the team, previewed the artificial turf at the new Cowboys Stadium, Haiti, and the possible inclusions of Carlos Vela and Guillermo Franco.

Aguirre took time in the press conference to reference the improvement of the team, and the importance of having support.

“Without going too far, I think that individually its benefited us being in this tournament. We’ve had very beneficial games we’re we’ve gathered many conclusions. The players have improved their level little by little. Things have come together to go down the right path,” said Aguirre in a press conference.

The brand new Cowboys Stadium will host the Mexico along with Haiti, Guadeloupe, and Costa Rica. Although the teams will face off on artificial surface, Aguirre feels like it’s the team’s obligation to win.

“We’re not used to this type of surface, but it’s not an excuse or problem. We’re conscious that the surface will be for both (teams) and that Mexico has the obligation to go out and win.”

Aguirre will serve his second game of his suspension against Haiti, but he expects a similar game as against Guadeloupe.

“(We’re expecting) a game more or less similar to Guadeloupe. Although there will be differences. We’re in the process of analyzing(their) games.”

Two more additions to the front line will be ready for the game against Haiti. Carlos Vela, who suffered an injury in the opening minutes of the first game against Nicaragua,     while Guillermo Franco tried to get to top physical level after an injury to Omar Arellano allowed for his call-up

“Carlos(Vela) and Guille(Franco) will be ready. Radames(Gaxiola, the team doctor), and Javier(Iribarren, the physical trainer) have worked with them, so we’ll keep them in mind(for the game on Sunday).”

“I feel fine. I’m very happy about the improvement that I’ve had from last week to this one. I think that I’ll be ready for Haiti. Hopefully everything turns out right and there’s nothing to prevent the manager from keeping me in mind,” said Vela in the same press conference.
