Mexico 2-0 Guadeloupe: Player Ratings

Goal.com's Andrea Martinez and Luis Bueno rate the players in Sunday's Mexico-Guadeloupe match.

Miguel Sabah - Mexico (Mexsport)
GLENDALE, Ariz. - Mexico avoided the United States with the result and both El Tri and Guadeloupe will play in Dallas on July 19, against Haiti and Costa Rica, respectively.

MEXICO

Guillermo Ochoa 5.5
- Wasn’t troubled much during the game, but he had a superb save in the second half to deny Guadeloupe a goal.

Johnny Magallon 5.5
- Did well in defense and wasn’t overtaken by Guadeloupe’s speed or strength.

Ismael Rodriguez 5 - Had a good display, but at times was outrun by the opposition.

Fausto Pinto 5.5 - Covered the back fairly well and he didn’t have much trouble with Guadeloupe.

Gerardo Torrado 6 - Had good distribution up front, and took the chance to shoot from outside the area for Mexico’s goal. Wasn’t as present in the second half.

Alberto Medina 5.5 - Made good runs and provided good balls into the area. Missed a great chance in front of goal in true Medina fashion, but in the end a goal still eluded him.

Israel Castro 5.5- Did well, but nothing outstanding

Omar Bravo 5 - Had a few chances up front, but missed them. Wasn’t on top form.

Carlos Esquivel 5.5 - Did a good job stunting plays from Guadeloupe.

Giovani Dos Santos 5.5 - Linked up well in front, but wasn’t as bright as in past games.

Efrain Juarez 6 - Provided the assist for the first goal, had good touches and provided good support.

Substitutes

Pablo Barrera 5.5 - Did well, but he had a few sloppy passes that gave away the ball too easily at times.

Jose Antonio Castro 5 -  Provided good shots and tried to get up front.

Miguel Sabah 5.5 - Didn’t play a long time, but was able to perform and get a goal.

GUADELOUPE

Marius Fausta 5 - Could have done better on Mexico's goal, as he got his fingertips to Torrado's shot. Defense let him down on Mexico's second goal.

Meddy Luna 5 - Solid defending early, couldn't find cohesion with his teammates around him though as entire defense succumbed to Mexico's strong attack.

Eddie Viator 5.5 - Shaky early on but did well to improve as the game wore on.

Alain Vertoit 4 - Undisciplined defending led to two yellow cards, which really left Gwada Boys in a hole.

Miguel Comminges 4.5 - Unable to hold down left back spot and gave away set pieces with poor challenges.

Lerry Hanany 5 - Nondescript performance on right side of field, Was not at fault on goal but could have provided more help.

David Fleurival 4.5 - Lost in the midfield. Couldn't do much to prevent Mexico's attack but also was not able to move ball forward.

Stephane Auvary 5 - Gave up too much space on Torrado's goal; tight marking may have prevented a shot. Also, unsure of himself with the ball until final 20 minutes.

Thomas Gommiette 4 - Did not do well to win balls and was lost in between defensive midfield and forwards; provided no link to either.

Gregory Gendeny 5 - Plenty of pace but didn't do much with it.

Mickael Antoine-Currier 5 - Was not much of a factor, but that was byproduct of Guadeloupe's inability to possess the ball.

Substitutes:

Jean-Luc Lambourde 4.5 - Poor marking led to a late Mexico goal.

Ludovic Gotin 4 - Worked hard, found space in Mexico's defense, nearly scored but was denied by Memo Ochoa; horrendous challenge on Fausto Pinto led to his ejection.

Larry Clavier 5 -
Active but attack-minded sub was not much of a factor as Mexico's defense stood firm.
