Benitez Officially Part Of English Premiership
Former Santos Laguna standout Christian Benitez signed his contract with Birmingham City on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Benitez signed a contract with Birmingham City, the club announced on its Web site.
The 23-year-old Benitez joined Birmingham on a US$ 12.5 million transfer fee from Santos Laguna.
"I know this is a good challenge for both me and the club and I'm really glad to be a part of it," Benitez told the club's Web site. "I think this is the right time for Christian Benitez to play in the Premier League and I want to show the fans why Birmingham wanted to sign me."
Benitez scored 29 goals during 50 regular-season games for Santos and helped the club win the Clausura 2008 season, when he scored a career-high eight goals and chipped in with another two in the postseason.
