Omar Arellano has been ruled out of Mexico's squad for the upcoming Gold Cup due to a left ankle injury.
Arellano, who scored a goal against Venezuela on June 24, left Sunday's game against Guatemala with an ankle injury. The damage he suffered in the game is apparently too much to overcome. Team officials said they expect Arellano to miss 4-6 weeks, which would likely keep him out of the start of the Mexican league season.
Arellano, who plays for Guadalajara, missed time over the winter with a similar injury on the same foot.
