Vergara: Mexico Has Superior Talent To Beat U.S.
Chivas owner Jorge Vergara said Mexico's recent friendly win over Venezuela shined light on a bright future, one he said will include a qualifying win over the U.S.
“I am sure that we do, that we continue to be better and can beat them, because we have much more talent, more ability, we just need to improve the attitude in order to beat them,” Vergara told reporters in a news conference on Saturday. “I am sure that Mexico made a great effort in their friendly match-up to beat Venezuela, in that sense the team will put more from their part to play against the United States in a World Cup qualifying match.”
The owner of Chivas de Guadalajara does not feel that the United States participation in the Confederations Cup, where they have faced superior rivals to Mexico’s friendly match-up opponents, will affect the Hexagonal outcome.
“The current rivals of Mexico or the Unites States have nothing to do with their upcoming match, Spain has nothing to do with the match against Mexico. However something that we have to imitate from the United States is their attitude,” admitted Vergara.
To Vergara’s liking the Tricolor’s match against Venezuela left him with more optimism that the national team is on the right path.
“To tell the truth I really did like Mexico’s game (against Venezuela), I believe we are returning to the formula that we should be implementing and Giovani Dos Santos along with Carlos Vela responded well, just like all the other players did, like Omar Arellano and Omar Bravo, I think the youngster responded very well which to me is a very good sign for August.”
