Despite Offers Abroad, Bautista Open To Staying With Jaguares

Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista said he has offers from clubs in the United States, Greece and Turkey but is open to staying with Jaguares - whatever gives him the best chance of returning to the national team.

Adolfo “Bofo” Bautista seems to have had a change of heart after exploring his options to play abroad the volatile striker now feels that remaining at Jagures will be his best chance at a national team call-up.

“I am participating in the preseason with Jaguares, waiting to talk to the club’s directors to see what they will decide," Bautista told reporters. "I already spoke with the coaching staff and they have the illusion and they have me contemplated to remain in the team, but I still need to talk to the directors."

Bautista seemed poised to abandon Chiapas last season but his transfer to Cruz Azul fell through. The striker's hopes of returning to Chivas de Guadalajara were also denied by club owner Jorge Vergara. The unhappy Bautista, in a last-ditch effort to leave Jaguares, refused to extend his contract but now seems willing to remain at the club.

“I am out of contract and there are indeed options to play abroad; Greece, Turkey, and the United States are my other options, but I have to talk with the directors," admitted Bautista. "They have treated me good, which is why I returned to the team even though my contract had ended and to see what they have in mind."

The upcoming week will be a important for Bautista's future.

“Next week will be key, it is a question of talking with the officials, to see what they have planned and if it is to our convenience then I will gladly remain at Jagures," Bautista said. "They have treated me well, and that is why I am here, everyone involved with the team, in that sense the officials have the last word. It does not matter where but I want to play. I want to showcase myself because South Africa is around the corner and I would like an opportunity to be there.”
