Giovani Dos Santos had been heavily criticized, but, with an impressive performance against Venezuela, many are praising the young player. Now, Gio is going along with the praise, and says that best is still yet to come.

“A new era is coming, and the truth is that I would love for everyone to see the best Giovani. Now, I have confidence and I don’t plan on throwing it away." said Dos Santos. "For me it was important to take of the pressure of a goal. Playing more loosely I’ve had better opportunities and I hope that things turn out better than what they’ve been lately."

Dos Santos admitted that he needed the goals, but despite his recent success will remain grounded.

“I needed those goals, and for that I’m very happy. It’s something that was urgent because of difference situations that came up regarding that subject. It was something that I wasn't finding, and now the day has come and it’s time to enjoy it without any fuss and with both feet on the ground.”

Aguirre selected Dos Santos and Vela as part of his roster for the summer, and both players are aware of the responsibilities that have been handed to them despite having disappointing performances with the national team.

“Vela, as well as myself, knows that this is a great opportunity to respond to the manager," Dos Santos said. "We’re conscious of the fact that we’re in debt with the national team, but now things came to us. Soccer is that way and now it was our turn to celebrate. We hope that with this confidence that we’ve acquired we’ll continue to get goals."
