Meza Urges Full Support Of El Tricolor
Former Mexico boss Enrique Meza said the criticism thrown towards the Mexican national team should be silenced.
“As a Mexican the defeat hurts me, but as a Mexican it hurts me more everything that is being said, it is adding fuel to the fire, and that is unjust. Everyone wanted Javier Aguirre to return and now that he is with the team we have to show him support,” Meza told reporters.
The former national team coach signaled that against El Salvador the Tricolor did not play well because they faced some adverse conditions. However, he is still confident that they will qualify to the World Cup but remains bothered at the medias portrayal of the team.
“It is easy to talk bad (about the Tricolor) than to talk good. To say good things requires certain care, to speak with tact, and to say bad things one just needs to open their mouths,” stated Meza.
“We give the impression that we want things to turn out bad because there is much mediocrity that, like always, predicts that things will turn out bad and that happens then they say that they were right,” said Meza who quoted Brazilian author Alan Riding.
“Tomorrow, we have to go to the Azteca Stadium to support the Tricolor because as Mexicans we are hurting for the teams current condition. I was the national team coach but that does not matter now, I want to go see Mexico play in any part of the world. To go to a World Cup where Mexico is not present is horrible,” concluded Meza.
