Tigres' Guzman Eyeing Pair Of Chivas Players

Tigres' new manager Daniel Guzman is reportedly interested in bringing in Gonzalo Pineda and Edgar Solis from Guadalajara as reinforcements for the Apertura 2009 season.

Daniel “Travieso” Guzman, who played and coached Chivas de Guadalajara, looked to his former club for possible transfers as he begins to rebuild the relegation-threatened Tigres. The “felines” coach has his mind set on defensive midfielder Gonzalo “Gonzo” Pineda and left winger Edgar “Tepa” Solis.

Guzman sees the Chivas players as ideal candidates to cover the gap that will be left with the departure of five Tigres players recently transfer-listed by el Travieso. Defenders Luis Ramirez, Hugo Sanchez, Julio Aguilar, and Sidney Balderas, as well as striker Mauricio Romero do not feature on Guzman’s agenda for the Torneo Apertura.

Tigres President Santiago Martinez already notified Chivas front office regarding the contractual conditions of Edgar “Tepa” Solis and Gonzalo “Gonzo” Pineda. Chivas, however, is not willing to negotiate until they are certain of which players will be joining the club. Tigres best bet will be on Solis as Pineda features on Chivas boss Francisco Ramirez's plans for next season.

Pineda also has two years left on his contract and has expressed his desire to remain at the club. Solis, on the other hand, could very well be making his way out of Chivas as the player has attracted the attention of Jaguares and Monterrey. A swap deal for Emmanuel Cerda could be on the table as Chivas have expressed interest in the forward.
