Ochoa's Agent Says Nothing Formal From Espanyol
Guillermo Ochoa's agent Manuel Velarde said there has been no formal talks regarding the player's reported move to Spain.
"There was some contact at one point but there's nothing official," he said. "The first contact between clubs should be with the team with whom he belongs. If they come to an agreement, then the player would step in, and that's where we come into play."
Velarde said his business partner, Jorge Berlanga, has contacts with several European clubs and through them was able to put in some feelers.
"There were lots of trips made to Europe for various reasons and there has been contact," Velarde said. "I can't say that he's never talked with the people from Barcelona but recently there has been no talks with them."
America 'keeper Guillermo Ochoa has been linked with several European clubs throughout the years but nothing has ever led to a path to Europe.
Espanyol is the latest club to reportedly have interest in Ochoa. Whether anything comes of this remains to be seen.
"We've talked with them but there has been nothing," Velarde said. "They are planning their upcoming season. There's been only approaches so far."
