With Contract Up, Meza Uncertain About Future
Enrique Meza's contract ran out at the end of the Clausura 2009 season. Responsible for many of the club's recent successes, Meza might move on.
While a contract renewal is still in the works, it remains to be seen if Meza will continue with Pachuca.
“Today, my contract is over, I don’t know if I’m going to continue. I don’t know if I want to continue, I need time to pass, to know the terms, but I think my time here is over, we’ll soon talk. The president and vice-president of my team gave me the liberty to choose. I think that my time is over,” said Meza.
Despite Pachuca’s loss in the final Meza remains content with what he accomplished during his time with the squad.
“I came, worked, if I have to leave I’ll leave. I think that I can leave with my head held high. They paid me and I paid them with my work. I have many friends among the players, if I have to leave for any reason I’ll leave very happy of participating at an institution like this because they have treated me well.”
Meza led Pachuca to the Clausura 2007 championship but his greatest achievement with Pachuca to date is likely the 2006 Copa Sudamericana title, the first and only time a Mexican club won a South American tournament.
