Morelia Retain Boy As Manager, Release Transferable List
Tomas "El Jefe" Boy was brought in to replace Luis Fernando Tena, and despite the club's inability to reach the playoffs Boy was given a new contract.
“The Monarcas Morelia board of directors would like to inform that head coach Tomas Boy will remain at the helm of the team for two more tournaments: Apertura 2009 and Clausura 2010. Thanks to his work, in the Clausura 2009, Tomas Boy has managed a notable improvement in the squad which was reflected in the team’s results. He also gave opportunities to young players like Jorge Gastelum who won a spot in the starting 11,” informed the Morelia press release.
With Boy at the helm Morelia managed to win three games, draw six, and lose two, to finish the season in fourth place of Group 2 with 22 points. This will be the third stint for “el Jefe” Boy who previously coached Morelia in the 96-97 and 98-99 seasons. Tomas Boy’s training staff, auxiliary coaches Carlos Bustos, and Roberto Hernandez, along with physical trainer Axel Bierbaum, were also retained.
