San Luis Reach Into Past, Hire Luna As Manager
Former manager Juan Antonio Luna has been hired to take over a San Luis squad that had four wins during the Clausura 2009 season.
"We have concluded that the project that will give us the best chance of continuity and strength to realize our objectives next season will be with Juan Antonio Luna Castro," San Luis officials said in a statement.
Luna will be presented to the media on Monday, when players return from their postseason break in order to begin preparations for the upcoming Apertura 2009 season.
Luna managed San Luis before, having guided the team to a combined 11-15-10 record in the Apertura 2002 and Clausura 2003 seasons. He also managed one game for America during the end of the Clausura 2008 season.
San Luis finished out of the Liguilla with a 4-8-5 record but reached the second round of Copa Libertadores. The club never had the opportunity to see that tournament through, however, as the Mexican Football Federation pulled out of CONMEBOL tournaments.
