Liguilla Preview: Pachuca
Who said Pachuca's dynasty was dead? Los Tuzos finished atop the regular season standings and had a tremendous amount of goals with 42. Pachuca will play Jaguares, whom they beat 5-1 just two weeks ago.
Update: Pachuca ended the Clausura 2009 on top of the league table, thanks to goal differential. All around they Pachuca had the best offense in the league, netting 42 goals. Their firepower wasn’t limited to just one scorer, and both Christian Gimenez (nine goals) and Blas Perez (eight) were among the Clausura's top scorers. Their defense was midtable, letting in 23 goals. The team had a stumble in Jornada 8, where they lost to Chivas 5-0, but only lost once afterwards.
Outlook: Pachuca are going into the Liguilla as one of the favorites along with Toluca. So far their offense has been the most prolific, and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Gimenez has found his scoring power at the right time, and Pachuca will surely go far in the competition. Pachuca have to be more worried about their defense because going into the Liguilla they have one of the worst.
