Indios Need One More For Salvation
With three points against Cruz Azul, Indios would save themselves from relegation and a trip back to Primera A.
This time Indios will be facing a tougher opponent according to Sydney Balderas. Cruz Azul will want to close out their campaign with a little decency and also prepare for their pos-pone championship game against Atlante.
“They will try to close out the tournament with a win,” noted Balderas. “But the win means more to us; we will be more focused because we are on the verge of being relegated. We will be focused on just getting a positive result.”
Even though one win would save Indios, they will likely not get overconfident because they have two more games to go and with Cruz Azul and Chivas coming up it does not seem easy.
“The stage is set, but we will have to have in mind that Cruz Azul will look for the win. It will be their last game at home and it will be a hard fought battle. We are yet to win anything, we are thinking on Saturday’s game, that we have to win so we can save ourselves,” said the Indios defender.
Indios can not count on either Tigres or Necaxa to get a negative result. Necaxa will face a weak Atlante team. As for Tigres, they face a very potent Toluca squad.
As curious as it might sound Indios might not need a win in order to stay alive. In a recent owner meeting there were talks about expanding the league to 20 teams instead of 18, but the speculation is, that would only happen if either Necaxa or Tigres were to be relegated. But there is still another answer if Indios don’t win.
Puebla has expressed their desire not to play against Chivas. If they do not play, FMF would automatically send them to the Primera A, which would mean that Indios would be saved.
Even with the new turn of events it is vital that Indios win one of the last two games because you have to expect the unexpected
