FMF Closes Doors To All Games

The Mexican Football Federation has decided to play all nine of its league games this weekend due to rising fears of the swine flu outbreak.

Due to fears over a swine flu outbreak, the Mexican Football Federation has announced that Jornada 16 will go on without any supporters.

The league has decided to play all nine of its league games behind closed doors to help prevent any spread of the swine flu, which has already claimed the lives of more than 150, according to reports.

Previously, the Mexican league had seen three matches played without supporters as Pachuca-Cruz Azul, Pumas-Chivas and America-Tecos all kicked off on the weekend without any supporters in the stands.

With rising cases in states across the nation, the FMF closed its doors and said in a statement that the public was their top priority.

By Monday night, Toluca, Pachuca and Cruz Azul had shut their doors. Chivas and Tecos followed suit, but by mid-afternoon the FMF made that mandatory for all clubs throughout the country.

The league also closed the doors to the entire slate of Primera A games on the weekend as well.
