Tecos had not won since Feb. 18, a streak that featured six draws out of seven games, but saw that come to an end with a 2-1 home victory over Atlante on Friday.

Tecos finally decided to mix in a victory amidst a sea of draws.

On Friday, Tecos broke a 1-1 deadlock and beat visiting Atlante 2-1 at Estadio Tres de Marzo to claim their first victory since Feb. 18. The win snapped a seven-match winless skid that was punctuated by six draws.

Tecos now moved into sole possession of second place in Group 2. With 18 points, Tecos have one more point than America and two more than Guadalajara, two days before the two Mexican titans face of at Estadio Jalisco.

Fredy Bareiro got the hosts on the scoreboard first as he bagged a goal in the 42nd minute. Rafael Medina sliced through Atlante's left side and darted into the penalty area. He squared a ball to Bareiro, who turned and knocked his attempt past Federico Vilar.

Not two minutes later, Giancarlo Maldonado leveled terms. Maldonado took a well-place through ball on a breakaway and either fanned on his shot or made a fantastic fake. His initial attempt got Jose de Jesus Corona on the ground and Maldonado did well to chip the ball over the fallen 'keeper and into the back of the net.

Midway through the second half, Atlante defender Miguel Martinez sent Tecos' Elgabry Rangel flying inside the penalty area and Tecos were awarded a penalty kick. Carlos Adrian Morales had no problems burying his attempt past Vilar and provided the winning margin in doing so.
