Amidst Turmoil, Chivas' Reynoso Tries To Focus On America

A new manager days before a meeting against America won't take away from Chivas' focus on their bitter rivals, Hector Reynoso said.

When el Clasico comes around it brings a lot of talking from both Chivas and America. It is a game of pride, but this time it is also a game that may determine the qualification of both teams into the Liguilla. Currently America are ahead with 17 points to Chivas’ 16 in Group 2.

“We’re expecting an intense game, as a Clasico always tends to be,” said Hector Reynoso of Chivas. “It’s the most important game for us in the Mexican tournament because win would put us into the qualification spot. We’re at home and it’s a Clasico. What more can we ask for than to give a good game?”

Reynoso has lived through many Clasicos and knows the game transcends the points gained.

“For me there are a lot of things behind this game. Now points matter a lot, but it’ll be a game of life or death, it’s America. It’s a team with history, and Chivas too. We’re at home and need to win for us, the people, for everyone.”

Form coming into a game of this stature is always thrown out the window, but Reynoso says that the team will still analyze some aspects of America’s current game.

“It’s a Clasico and statistics are left to the side," he said. "We have to be careful of what America has been doing as a visitor, we have to analyze them and we will do it. We’ve proposed ourselves to be more focused on what we have to do, and referring to the game against Lanus, there’s a lot that we need to improve on.”
