Chivas Players Try To Weather Storm Once More
Managerial moves and stern talks from club owner Jorge Vergara are nothing new, Sergio Amaury Ponce said but that does not mean the players are used to them.
After the dismissal of Omar Arellano as manager of Chivas, Jorge Vergara took the opportunity to talk to the players once more. The stern talks have been prominent this season, and players such as Sergio Amaury Ponce don’t appreciate them.
“The truth is that personally that very often we’ll be gathered for things that aren’t positive, and results that don’t turn out well," he said. "Sincerely, it’s nothing pleasant. How they’re given, we honestly can’t do anything. They’re orders and we have to carry them out. Imagine everything that has happened yesterday and (Thursday), and trying to accept it all.”
Ponce also said that the changes should be not weigh in on the players leading up to the game on Sunday against America.
“It doesn’t have to affect because we have an important game on Sunday. We’re conscious of the fact that we’re not in a great place, and for now we have to put it off to the side because the game on Sunday is important because of what it represents and the three points at play.”
Despite the situation Ponce says that the team is united and trying to do things right.
“We are united and as always trying to hold up and do things well. We hope that this won’t affect us for the game on Sunday," Ponce said. "We feel united and conscious of the fact that we’re not in a good place, but we want to turn it around.”
