After Mexico’s 2-0 win over Costa Rica, Mexico sent out a message that the Azteca Stadium was their territory. Now the national team looks to continue with the winning attitude at Honduras, and knows that continuity is necessary to regain the tag of the Giant of the CONCACAF.

“It’s very important that the national team has continuity with results and that we qualify for the World Cup as soon as possible. We’re very determined to achieving it, we know it’ll be complicated, but we believe that we can get the three points,” said Mexican midfielder Luis Perez.

To further pave to road to South Africa the team knows that success outside of Mexico is necessary as well.

“We’re very committed and conscious of the fact that we not only have to be strong in the Azteca, but also outside and hopefully we can show that on Wednesday.”

With Mexico in second place in the hexagonal qualifying in the early rounds, it can still achieve first place where many expect the team to be. The US is currently dominating the standings, and Mexico wants to reclaim its title.

“We have the base and the opportunity to be the giant of the CONCACAF, but we have to do more than talk and translate it to the pitch," Perez said. "All the vibes that we have within us we have to take it to the pitch. The first step was the win over Costa Rica, and now we have to keep advancing.”
