Former Kansas City Wizards standout Jose Burciaga may soon find his way into Mexico's Primera Division.

The one-time MLS standout landed a two-week trial with Mexico side Tecos and could claim an open spot on the club's roster.

Tecos Sporting Director Carlos Briones told Guadalajara daily Mural that Burciaga had several attractive qualities.

"He can play on the wing or at left back, and he's naturally left-footed," Briones said. "He had one season with Kansas City Wizards in which he had a lot of assists and even scored some goals, so he's a player that brings a lot offensively to the mix.

Burciaga, 27, spent seven seasons in MLS and all but one with the Wizards. His best season was in 2006, when he had eight goals and eight assists in 30 games. He played with Colorado last season but played in just 12 games and had one goal and one assist.

Briones, though, admitted knowing little about Burciaga.

"He's a player we do not know very well," Briones said. "We know that in 2006 he had a good season in MLS except he had an injury and a subsequent surgery but he's been playing for a year now. But we'll see if he fits our needs."
