After leaving his club's game in the first half with an injury on Saturday, Giovani Dos Santos has been ruled out of action for Saturday's match against Costa Rica.
Dos Santos suffered an adductor injury on the weekend. He left Ipswich Town's encounter on Saturday in the 26th minute but traveled to Mexico for the upcoming qualifiers nonetheless. Team doctors, though, ruled him out for Saturday but will wait until next week to determine if the youngster can recover in time to travel to Honduras for a game on April 1.
While still a member of Tottenham, Dos Santos suffered an injury blow late last year when he hurt his ankle and missed some time with the national team as well.
Meanwhile, Castillo replaces Dos Santos on the roster but plays a much different position. As a defender, Castillo might indeed be in the mix to see some time as left back Carlos Salcido is suspended for Saturday's match. Additionally, Salcido arrived in Mexico with a rib injury and his own status for Honduras may also be in doubt; the Mexican Football Federation said on its Web site that Salcido is undergoing treatment that will allow him to play against Honduras.
