Jaguares Suspend Itamar For Friday's Game At Tecos
Itamar is slapped with a week-long suspension; Jaguares management wanrs no player is above the club.
Itamar was suspended following his actions in Saturday's game against Chivas. After he was pulled in the 55th minute, Itamar did not shake incoming teammate Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista's hand and kicked several things on the bench. Coach Miguel Angel Brindisi talked with Itamar and suspended the Brazilian for the entire week, including Friday's league game in Zapopan.
"Itamar made a mistake. He's human," club executive Sergio Verdirame said. "He apologized before the group, and that is important. We value that but the punishment stands, and that is that he will not travel with the team for the game against Tecos."
Itamar has started each of Jaguares' games this season thus far. He has two goals and has gone the distance in six games.
Although he has proven himself valuable, Verdirame said each player must show respect towards the club.
"No player is greater than the institution, nor the coaching staff, nor management," he said. "We all must respect, above all, the institution."
