Meza Offers No Excuse For Ejection
Pachuca manager Enrique Meza is bewlidered why he is sent off yet again but blames only himself.
Enrique Meza was sent off in last week's 3-2 win over Tecos and will not be allowed to sit on the sidelines for this week's match. Days before the match, Meza seemed apologetic and somewhat remorseful over the ejection, though he was still a bit unsettled with one person.
"It is not possible that at my age I continue to do these things. I get paid to manage and I won't be able to," Meza said. "For a manager, it is unpleasant to be in the stands."
Meza was sent off in the 76th minute of the match for arguing calls. Meza did not disagree with the move and credited the official for his actions.
"I made a mistake and nothing can justify it," Meza said. "I know that I cannot talk to the referees and Paul (Delgadillo) did the right thing by sending me off."
As far as the match goes, Pachuca will try to take a commanding lead in Group 1 and stretch their edge atop the overall league table with a win over Monterrey. Pachuca enter the match on 20 points, five ahead of Monterrey. A win for los Rayados would give Pachuca a seemingly insurmountable eight-point lead in Group 1.
"We are in the lead right now but I cannot say if we are the team to beat," Meza said. "The only thing I can do is to try and make my team better and help them continue to improve because we have long stretches of games where we do not play well."
