Taxing Schedule Taking Toll On Chivas
Chivas have sandwiched midweek games with weekend fixtures for the better part of two months; players say they're only human in feeling the effects.
The team however admits to being weary after all the games. The squad was given Sunday off, but promptly returned to training at the Verde Valle location in Guadalajara on Monday.
“Look, we’re human and we get tired just like anyone else,” Chivas captain Ramon Morales said. “If we didn’t get tired, it’d be because we weren’t trying. The reality is that on the pitch we try to do the best we can.”
The demanding schedule has taken a toll on the squad and Morales believes it has been a factor in games. In the past four games El Rebaño has seen wins and losses. Only a week before, Chivas had beaten Everton of Chile 6-2 and Pachuca 5-0. It came to a halt against Caracas with a 2-0 defeat and an identical score line against Jaguares with the Chivas’ goal arsenal drying up.
“Every game is different. We try to be fair when it’s our turn to win by many goals," Morales said. "Now that we haven’t been able to score we’re not going to try and feel like we’re the worst either.”
