Chivas, Cruz Azul Held At Home

Neither Chivas nor Cruz Azul managed to obtain a full three points in Saturday's action in Mexico.

Chivas 1, Necaxa 1

Necaxa accounted for both goals - unfortunately, only one was in their favor. Alfredo Moreno opened the scoring in the 64th minute after taking advantage of a failed clearance by Hector Reynoso. Moreno pounced on the ball, dribbled into the area and rifled a shot past Luis Michel. In the final 10 minutes, Ramon Morales fired a free kick from 25 yards out that banged off the post, off Necaxa 'keeper Jorge Bernal's back and into the back of the net.

Cruz Azul 1, Tigres 1

Cristian Riveros scored in the eighth minute and a rout looked likely as Cruz Azul hosted Tigres. However, Tigres' defense put the clamps down on la Maquina. The visitors' persistence paid off as Ariel Brogado scored in the 65th minute and Tigres held on for a draw in Estadio Azul.

San Luis 2, Atlas 1

San Luis spoiled Ricardo Lavolpe's return to Atlas, with a little help from Atlas players. Hugo Ayala scored an own goal five minutes from time but even though he canceled it out with a strike of his own three minutes later, San Luis still walked away with the three points. Jairo Patino opened the scoring in the 75th minute and Ayala's own goal was enough for San Luis to pick up their second victory of the season.

Jaguares 2, Atlante 0

Jaguares played the role of rude visitors on Saturday in a 2-0 victory over host Atlante. Oribe Peralta opened the scoring in the 18th minute when he took a pass from Itamar Batista and beat Federico Vilar. The match remained at 1-0 when Danilinho struck. The Brazilian doubled Jaguares' lead in the 73rd minute. Danilinho has now scored in each game this season and his five overall goals is best in the league.
