America-Pachuca Highlight Mexican League Play
Two games featuring group rivals - Pumas vs. Morelia, Indios vs. Santos - add spice to the quartet of games.
Puebla-Toluca
Holders Toluca will visit Puebla in the first match on Sunday. Mired in last place in the battle against relegation, Puebla desperately need points in each game to maintain their place in the top flight. Even though this game is at home, Puebla will have a tough challenge. Toluca features scoring ace Hector Raul Mancilla, who has four goals this season. Interestingly, all four of his goals this season have come in the first half. Toluca has yet to lose on the season but a full three points would help the defending champions climb to the top of Group 3.
Pumas-Morelia
Both teams have much to play for when Pumas hosts Morelia. Pumas sits two points ahead of Morelia in Group 2 and a victory would distance los felinos from thier group rivals. Morelia, meanwhile, must do better than scoring one goal in order to pull out points from this match. Los Monarcas have scored just once in three games thus far.
Indios-Santos
Only when the season is still young can a club like Indios be points ahead of a club like Santos. Indios, who are in their second season in the first division, have five points and has scored five goals in three games. Santos, meanwhile, have scored just once in the first three games of the season. Consequently, Santos have just one point. This match takes on extra significane because it features two teams in Group 1, but even if Santos win, they won't surpass Indios on points. Nonetheless, it may come into play late in the season.
America-Pachuca
Possibly the glitziest matchup of the weekend will close out Week 4. Entering the weekend, Pachuca led Group 1 with seven points. Pachuca also have seven goals through three goals and should give America's defense fits. America sits in behind three points in Group 2. Pachuca may have the upper hand as los Tuzos have beaten America in their last two visits to Estadio Azteca and have lost just once there since 2002.
