Omar Bravo received permission from Deportivo La Coruna to leave the club early and joined the Mexican national team earlier than anticipated ahead of Mexico's qualifier against the United States.

Omar Bravo joined the Mexican national team on Friday after club side Deportivo la Coruna agreed to release him early in anticipation of Mexico's match against the United States.

Bravo joined the team in Mexico City and was slated to travel with the rest of the squad to the United States from there.

"I'm here to contribute, just how much I don't know," Bravo said upon arriving in Mexico City. "(Deportivo) gave me permission to return a few days early so I could have two or three extra training sessions with the team."

By all accounts, Bravo has been a bust for Deportivo. He has just one league goal for Deportivo and has played sparingly since joining the club on a free transfer last summer.

Still, he insisted his inactivity and lack of productio has not affected him.

"I have always been strong mentally, I've never lost confidence in myself," Bravo said. "I'm here with the hopes of winning and succeeding. I don't know how I am (in terms of match-fitness) but I will only know that if I step out on the field."

Bravo, who scored one goal during the semifinal phase of qualifying, said he respects the United States but thinks Mexico has the ability to pull out a result.

"There are no giant teams, no small teams," Bravo said. "Any team is capable of getting a result... The United States is a very good team but we have a lot of confidence in that we will be able to get a result as long as we do all the right things.
