Mexican Mercado: A Return To Coapa

Rather than giving in to speculation and perpetuating rumors, this is an up-to-date summary of the confirmed transfer movements in the Mexican Primera División.

Pavel Pardo- Stuttgart (Mexsport)
On the Bench
A few days after assuming the managerial position at Puebla, Rubén Omar Romano abandoned his post due to administrative wranglings.

Puebla then turned to a familiar face and hero of the Camoteros faithful, the earring-wearing José Luis Sánchez Solá.  ‘El Chelís’ returned to the Puebla bench after he was dismissed in the eight week of the Torneo Apertura 2008.

Club officials have thrown their complete support behind Solá, who has started to look for possible reinforcements ahead of the next campaign.

The Return

Various sources have reported that El Tri and Stuttgart midfielder, Pável Pardo, will return to the Águilas del América for the upcoming Torneo Clausura 2009.

No official announcement has been made until Stuttgart play their final match of the year, against Standard Liege in the UEFA Cup this Thursday.

The report indicates that Pardo will play for América for the next three years with a salary of $4 million dollars.  Pardo previously played for the Águilas from 1999-2006, winning two Mexican league titles.

Stuttgart has a policy of only renovating player contracts one additional year for players over the age of 30.  The 32-year old saw this move as a great opportunity for his family and to retire playing on the team of his dreams.

Thus, Pardo concludes his European career on a positive note, he was a regular starter, in his first season was voted the fifth-best player, and was one of the pillars of the Stuttgart team that won the Bundesliga in 2006/2007.

All In The Family
The Televisa family is doing all in its power to prevent their second 'child,' Necaxa, from falling dangerously close to relegation in the following campaign.

To avoid such catastrophe, the parent company of América, Necaxa, and San Luis, orchestrated a number of important  swaps among siblings.

San Luis appear to be the most affected, since they previously said farewell to manager Raúl Arias, and now  have to endure the loss of key players Eduardo Coudet and Víctor Píriz, who will join Arias on the Hidrorayos of Necaxa.

Necaxa aim to return to the privileged positions of Mexican league with their new players, which also include Germán Villa, Alfredo Moreno, Marco Antonio Gómez, and José Joel González

In return, the Gladiadores received defensive midfielder Jesús Palacios.  The 25-year old had limited participation in the Apertura 2008 with Necaxa and relishes this new opportunity to become a key figure for San Luis.

They also obtained the services of Uruguayan Egidio Arévalo and Arturo Alvarado, both on a one-year loan from Monterrey.

Swaps
After not having any continuity with Tigres over the past months, midfielder Javier Saavedra joined bordertown side, Indios de Ciudad Juárez.  The 34-year old sees this as a great opportunity and challenge in his career.  Saavedra is aware of the relegation problems the team will encounter in the upcoming Torneo Clausura 2009 and is committed to contribute his experience for their salvation.

Former Tecos and Atlas defender, Juan Carlos Valenzuela, reached an agreement to play on América for the next three years.  ‘El Topo’ was an important player for Tecos over the past seasons and he indicated that there is no higher peak in Mexican football than to wear the Azulcrema jersey.  The 24-year old also commented that his objectives are to consolidate himself in the institution, look for a spot on the national team, and respond with positive performances so that his next move could be to European football.

América opened their wallets and also signed central defender Fernando Ortíz, from Santos Laguna.  Ortíz returned from vacation in his native Argentina and was officially presented in Coapa this Thursday.  The upcoming Clausura 2009 will be the fourth season in the Mexican league for the 30-year old defender, who will reinforce the América backline and cover the void left by fellow Argentine Sebastián Domínguez.

A team that has experienced much activity in the transfer market has been the Rayados of Monterrey, who acquired talented forward Alonso Sandoval from Tecos UAG.  Sandoval is the fifth reinforcement for Monterrey ahead of the upcoming campaign and he joins Gerardo Galindo, Aldo De Nigris, Diego Martínez and the Paraguayan Osvaldo Martínez.

New Faces
After a positive recommendation from Toluca captain Paulo Da Silva, Paraguayan midfielder Osvaldo Martínez, was signed by Nuevo León outfit Monterrey, for the Torneo Clausura 2009.  The 22-year old recently conquered a fourth-straight championship with Libertad of Paraguay.

Paraguayan goal scoarer, José María Ortigoza, will continue his young career in Mexican football.  The 21-year old who previously played for Sol de América of the Paraguayan league, was one of the most consistent players of the past campaign with 19 goals in the 43 games. It has not been revealed what team will sign him, but according to his agent José Fornerone (who took Paraguayan Pablo Zeballos to Cruz Azul), the player will go on loan with a buying option.
