Cuauhtémoc Blanco delivered a great performance and played an important role for Santos in their 3-1 quarterfinal victory over San Luis this Sunday, providing an assist and being an ever-present threat in the attack.

Despite his recent arrival to the club, Blanco appeared to be attuned to his new colleagues and perfectly fit in with the style of Santos.

"We had very few days to get to know each other, but I adapt to my teammates and things went our way today," Blanco said.

'El Cuau' also expressed his appreciation for the Torreon faithful and a desire to pay back their support with an appearance in the Torneo Apertura 2008 final.

"With the fans it has gone well, the truth is that I'm grateful for the support they gave me and I hope to go to the final with Santos," he declared after the match.

Blanco calmly made it clear that his performance was not intended to prove to México coach, Sven-Göran Eriksson, that he should not be left out of qualification matches.

"I didn't send a message to anyone," he stated.  "I am simply concentrated here with Santos and with desires to continue transcending."

Even if he is only there on a short-term loan, Cuauhtémoc Blanco is completely focused on the objectives of the Laguneros.

"Now we are thinking on the next match, this one is behind us and we must be very well prepared for the match at San Luis, because it may cost us if we fail to do so."

Next Saturday Santos visit San Luis in the return leg of the quarterfinal series.  Current champion Santos head into the match with a two goal advantage in the aggregate-score.
