Mexicans Abroad: Guardado In Stellar Form

‘El Principito’ Guardado once again delivered a stellar performance and scored his second goal of the season in the Dépor victory. Also, PSV defender ‘Maza’ Rodríguez scored his first goal in Europe and Diego Jiménez played in the MLS Cup final.

After a midweek defeat for México in World Cup qualification, the European-based players were criticized and their quality was questioned by the Mexican press and faithful.

While many Mexicans did not feature for their teams this weekend, Andrés Guardado continues to prove that he always performs for both club and country.  'El Principito' delivered another first-rate performance and scored an injury time goal to seal the victory for Dépor.

In the Netherlands, Francisco 'Maza' Rodríguez played the full 90 minutes and scored his first goal for PSV in their 4-0 victory.  Carlos Salcido also had participation in the match.  Also, 20-year old Héctor Moreno continues as an undisputed center defender for Eredivisie leaders AZ.

In the States, Diego Jiménez and the New York Red Bulls suffered a defeat in the MLS Cup final and finished the season as runners-up.  Jiménez became one of New York's  most steadiest defenders in the playoffs.
