Almaguer Out Of Jaguares
Officials of Chiapas side Jaguares announced Wednesday night the dismissal of Sergio Almaguer as coach due to bad results this season.
The southernmost team based in Chiapas currently occupies the last spot in overall classification, with eight points obtained out of 30 possible and only two victories in 10 matches.
President Antonio Leonardo also informed that the vacant spot left by Almaguer will be occupied by Francisco Avilán, who coached the affiliate club in the Primera División "A."
"We are going to take one or two weeks to see who is the next Jaguares coach, we have our sights set on a medium or long term and try not to settle on a short term deal," explained the Jaguares President. "At the moment professor Avilán will help us and with very good disposition will be helping us in as many matches are necessary."
"As of now this is all we have," stated Leonardo. "Regarding the new coach we have nothing, we barely started working on this a few days and we are going to have patience."
Considering the history of Sergio Almaguer both as a player and coach of Jaguares, the club President indicated that Almaguer will be taking a coaching course in Europe, where he will serve as a scout for the club.
Sergio Almaguer was in front of Jaguares for eight months with a record of nine wins, four draws and nine defeats during that time. The former defender assumed the coaching role in the seventh week of the Torneo Clausura 2008, in which he took the Chiapas side to the quarterfinals.
